Elephants of Udawalawe

Like Yala for Leopards, Udawalawe is the best place to watch Asian Elephants in large herds in close quarters. The park offers picturesque backdrop as it is situated in the basin of central mountains. The park is comparatively smaller than Yala but comes with rich wildlife sightings and Udawalawe is considered an important bird watching site in Sri Lanka.

Around the park there are many accommodation options from guest houses to star class hotels but most notable experience in Udawalawe is camping inside the park in mobile tents. This allows you to be at the heart of wilderness and do the game drives from the campsite. The campsites are situated by the river so when not going for safaris you could enjoy a chilled beer by the river bank and play your favourite board game. The camp provides meals cooked freshly at the camp kitchen.
